Attorney Michael Bromwich of DC; greedy loser

The state of New York presented Michael R. Bromwich with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from HarvardUniversityLawSchool in Detroit.

Mike was appointed by U.S. District Court Judge Denise Cole as monitor in a case involving Apple Computer.

Mike charges Apple $1,100 an hour for his questionable services. Obviously, Mike isn’t worth anything near $1,100. In fact, $200 an hour would be more than sufficient for someone who is merely acting as a glorified monitor.

It is highly likely that the bulk of the so-called monitoring work is performed by associates of the Goodwin Proctor firm that are paid about $100 an hour or less. In most large law firms, this is standard operating procedure. In other words, have low ranking employees earning $1000 an hour do the work and bill the client and/or the victim $1,100 an hour.

Apple subsequently sought an order removing Goodwin Proctor and Mike from the monitor post because Apple claimed Mike had exceeded his authority by “operating in an unfettered and inappropriate manner” and by overcharging for his so-called services.

Unfortunately, Judge Denise Cote denied Apple’s request.

As we speak (ca. April 2014), Mike practices with Goodwin Proctor LLP at 901 New York Avenue NW in Washington, DC.
