Attorney Scott Nelson of Denver; convicted bully

The state of Colorado presented Scotty with a law license in 1985

The Colorado State Bar found Scotty guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Scotty represented a husband in a divorce case in Arapahoe County District Court.

Scotty and his client were scheduled to appear at a hearing concerning a contempt citation brought by the client's wife. The respondent picked up his client for the hearing. The client had been drinking and became very agitated on the way to the hearing, causing the respondent to become agitated and upset.

Scotty and his client were a few minutes late for the hearing, and when they arrived, opposing counsel Byrne was standing in the doorway to the courtroom. Byrne then asked Scotty, twice, if he had checked in with the courtroom clerk. Scotty then became angry and lost control of his emotions and told his client in a loud voice, “I’m tired of this shit.”

At the time, Byrne was still standing in the doorway. Scotty then told Byrne, “Get out of my way.” Scotty then used his forearm to push Byrne aside, causing him to fall back against the door. As a result, Byrne injured his lower back.

As a result of the courtroom incident, Scotty was charged with third degree assault and harassment. Subsequently, Scotty was acquitted of the harassment charge but was convicted of the third degree assault charge.

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Scotty’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received a complimentary censure and a suspension for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Colorado Supreme Court punished Scotty by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak, (ca. March 2015), Scotty practices at 1685 South Colorado Blvd in Denver, Colorado.
