The state of New Jersey presented Phil with a law license in 1982

The New Jersey Office of Attorney Ethics found Phil guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Phil the Coward attempted to strangle his ex-wife, Consuela, with a telephone cord.

A Bergen County Grand Jury issued a four-count indictment against Phil for the following crimes:

1. Second degree aggravated assault
2. Third degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
3. Third degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose
4. Fourth degree possession of an unlawful weapon

Subsequently, Phil pleaded guilty to simple assault by admitting that he assaulted Consuela. He was sentenced to probation, fifty hours of community service and was ordered to not have contact with Consuela.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court punished Phil by gifting him with a complimentary censure.
