Attorney Joseph Rydzewski of Hawley, PA; convicted thief

The state of Pennsylvania provided Joseph Robert Rydzewski with a law license in 1973.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) has found Joey guilty of the following misconduct.

Joey pleaded guilty in state court to theft by unlawful taking, a third degree felony. Joey was sentenced to serve two months in the Lackawanna County prison.

Several months later, Joey pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of mail fraud. Joey served five months of a seven month sentence in a federal prison, six weeks in a halfway house, and two years of supervised release.

Joey’s thefts involved stealing from his law firm’s expense account to pay his household bills and other personal expenses.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court punished Joey ordering that he be disbarred.

Several years after he was disbarred, the comedians sitting on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court voted to reinstate Bobby the Thief’s law license.

As we speak (ca. March 2014) Joey practices at 2573 Route 6 in Hawley, Pennsylvania.
