Attorney Joan Mooney of Morgantown, WV; repeat offender

The state of West Virginia presented C. Patrick Carrick with a law license in 1978

The Lawyer Disciplinary Board found Burke guilty of the following misconduct.

In a previous disciplinary matter, Joan received a complimentary admonishment for engaging in a variety of misconduct, which included:

  1. Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  2. Failed to comply with discovery requests
  3. Failed to consult with client
  4. Failed to keep client informed about status of legal matter
  5. Failed to explain matters to client to extent necessary so client could make informed decisions re: representation
  6. Failed to cooperate with Disciplinary Board (Up Yours, said Joan!)

The admonishment required Joan to undergo psychological counseling and to complete an additional six hours of Continuing Legal Education.

Joan found it acceptable to not comply with the court’s order that she undergo psychological counseling. As a result, the Supreme Court found her in contempt.

As a consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the West Virginia Supreme Court punished Johnny by gifting her with a second complimentary admonishment.

As we speak (March 2014), practices at 235 High Street in Morgantown, West Virginia.
