Judge Edward Bassett of Phoenix; loser, lifetime porker

The state of Arizona presented Edward Bassett with a law license in 1981 after he graduated from Columbia University Law School.

From 1986 through 2013 (27 years), Eddy has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough. Apparently, no respectable law firm in the greater Phoenix area was about to offer Eddy a good paying job.

The Arizona Commission on Judicial Conduct found Eddy guilty of the following misconduct.

Judge Bassett found it acceptable to engage in ex parte (one sided) communications.

In one instance, Eddy was involved in a conversation with a bailiff wherein he discussed the substance of a case then pending before him.

Making matters worse, Eddy knowingly violated the Code of Judicial Conduct when he failed to disclose the ex parte communication to the parties involved in the case.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Eddy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. February 2014), Eddy continues to sit as the Presiding Probate Judge for Maricopa County in Phoenix, Arizona.
