State Sen. Jeff Denham; greedy/arrogant hypocrite, serial abuser of taxpayer funds

Unfortunately, Sen. Jeff Denham succeeded in duping the voters in the 12th Senate District which is located in the greater Modesto area into electing him in Nov. 2002.

It would appear that Sen. Jeff Denham is a multi-millionaire in that he owns and operates Denham Plastics, the leading supplier of reusable containers in the agriculture industry. In addition, he and his family also farm almonds on their ranch in Merced County.

Sen Jeff Denham consistently claims to be a leading voice in the effort to reduce government waste in Sacramento. However, as you’ll see below, Sen. Jeff Denham is nothing more than a hypocrite when mouthing his off-repeated attacks on government waste.

Despite being a multi-millionaire, Sen. Jeff Denham finds it acceptable to hose the taxpayers by causing them to spend tens-of-thousands of dollars to provide him with a ride of his choice. Over a five-year period of time from Dec. 2002 through March 2007, Jeff Denham spent $125,369.18 of taxpayer funds to purchase the three vehicles described below.
  1. 2003 Ford Expedition – 12/6/02 = $45,066.32
  2. 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid – 10/27/04 = $34,366.48
  3. 2007 Highlander Hybrid – 03/01/07 = $45,936.38
The costs to Californians for Jeff Denhamam’s multiple rides (2003-2008) are as follows:
  • $20,790 – Lease Costs
  • $27,986 – Fuel Costs
  • $58,000 – Depreciation Costs
  • $9,711 – Maintenance Costs
  • $2,500 – Liability Insurance Costs
  • $118,987 = Total Costs = $19,831 yearly average
From 2003-2008, Sen. Jeff Denham’s fuel purchases and mileage are as follows:
  • 12,032 = gallons of fuel
  • $27,986 = costs of fuel
  • 254,549 miles driven = 44,425 yearly average
Had the state merely paid Sen. Jeff Denham mileage for every legitimate mile he drove on official state business, and not the 254,549 miles he claims, the cost would have likely have been as follows:
  • $15,000 = 30,000 miles x $0.50 (5,000 legitimate miles per year)
  • $118,987 = Actual cost to taxpayers over six years
  • $103,987 = Hosing of taxpayers by Jeff Denham
The median household income in Modesto in 2008 was $53,030 (http://tinyurl.com/29dklw) before taxes. Assuming the median household paid $10,000 in state and federal taxes, annual disposable income would be $43,000. Therefore, it would be impossible for a median family in Modesto to spend $19,831 per year to operate one vehicle, which would equal 46% of disposable income.

Bottom line, Senator Jeff Denham gives arrogant and greedy millionaire hypocrites a bad name!
