► Attorney Philip Derksen of Abbotsford, BC; serial offender

The Law Society presented Philip Richard Derksen with a law license in 1988 after he graduated from the University of British Columbia Law School.

The Disciplinary Committee of the Bar Society found Phil guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to respond to Bar investigators (Up Yours, said Phil!)
  • Engaged in repeated misconduct

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Phil’s First Bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. Phil’s prior bites are as follows:

  1. 2003 – License restricted to criminal law matters
  2. 2004 – Cited for failing to hold funds collect for GST and PST
  3. 2009 – Failed to expedite litigation, failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  4. 2011 – Failed to expedite litigation, failed to act with due diligence (slacker)

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Committee punished Phil by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. February 2014) Phil practices at 36182 Cassandra Drive in Abbotsford, British Columbia.
