Attorney John Beltzer of Lincoln, NE; ethical dwarf

The state of Nebraska presented John E. Beltzer with a law license in 1983 after he graduated from the University of Nebraska Law School.

Disciplinary Counsel found Johnny guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Johnny represented a client in a personal injury case, which he later settled. When the settlement check arrived, Johnny disbursed most of it to the client and to medical providers, but with the agreement of the client, kept $2,000 in his trust account to pay subsequent medical bills.

Several months later, the client asked for the remainder of the money. Johnny admitted that there were insufficient funds in his trust account to pay his client because he had transferred the client’s money to his operating account in order to make payroll and cover operating costs.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Nebraska Supreme Court punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. February 2014), Johnny practices at 3701 O Street in Lincoln, Nebraska.
