Attorney Gary Nelson of Pittsburgh; repeat offender

 

The state of Pennsylvania presented William Austin Watkins with a law license in 1988.

 

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found William guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Gary’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  1. Engaged in a pattern of misconduct
  2. Repeatedly failed to provide competent legal services
  3. Failed to act with due diligence (slacker) in many instances
  4. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  5. Failed to communicate with one client (victim) for 18 months
  6. Failed to keep client informed about status of legal matter
  7. Failed to properly prepare for client’s sentencing hearing

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court punished Gary by gifting him with a complimentary 90-day suspension of his law license.

 

Gary’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  1. Failed to provide competent representation (Dumbo)
  2. Failed to keep client informed about status of legal matter
  3. Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  4. Failed to respond to client inquires for information
  5. Failed to return unearned retainer (cheater)
  6. Failed to comply with the order of a trial court
  7. Failed to return client file to client after being fired
  8. Failed to explain matter sufficiently so client could make informed decisions re: representation
  9. Failed to take steps to protect client’s interests after being fired
  10. Failed to expedite client’s litigation 
  11. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice

As one would suspect, these weren’t Gary’s First and/or Second bites at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received four (4) complimentary informal admonitions and three (3) private reprimands for engaging in a variety of misconduct, some of which mirrors that aforementioned.

 

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court punished Gary by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license.

 

As we speak (ca. January 2014) Gary practices with the Hudson Legal Group at 116 Gladstone Road in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
