Attorney Karen Wilkes of Rome, GA; repeat offender

The state of Georgia presented Karen Suzanne Wilkes with a law license in 1990 after she graduated from the University of Georgia Law School.

The Georgia State Bar found Karen guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Karen was appointed by the Georgia Public Defenders Standards Council (GPDSC) to represent a client regarding his Motion for New Trial following his criminal conviction.

Although Karen Wilkes investigated and prepared for the matter and moved for a continuance of the hearing on the motion, she returned the file to the GPDSC; however, she never informed the trial Court of the client that she no longer represented him.

Several months later, the trial court denied the client’s Motion for a New Trial and mailed a copy of the order to Karen, but she never informed the client about the order.

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Karen’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. She previously received a complimentary reprimand for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Georgia Supreme Court punished Karen by gifting her with a second complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. February 2014), Karen practices at 205 East 4th Avenue in Rome, Georgia.
