Attorney Patricia King of Charlotte; ethical misfit

The state of North Carolina presented Patricia E. King with a law license in 1971

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar charged Patricia with the following misconduct.

In one matter, Patricia was hired a Power of Attorney, a Healthcare Power of Attorney and a Last Will and Testament on a client’s behalf. The documents named Ms. Stowe as the attorney-in-fact, the healthcare agent, and sole beneficiary of the client’s last will and testament.

Subsequently, Patricia drafted the documents and gave them to Ms. Stowe without ever consulting with her client.

In addition, Patricia is the owner of Kings Funeral Home. After the death of her client and over the objection of his family, Patricia conducted a funeral for him in accordance with Ms. Stowe’s directions. However, Patricia knew that the Power of Attorney for Ms. Stowe became null and void upon the death of her client.

As a consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Patricia by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. February 2014) Patricia practices at 4000 Beatties Ford Road in Charlotte, North Carolina.
