Attorney Kenneth Barnes of Durham, NC; lying loser

The state of North Carolina presented Kenneth N. Barnes with a law license in 1987 after he graduated from Campbell University Law School.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Kenny guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Asserted what he knew were frivolous counter claims on client’s behalf
  2. Prejudiced and damaged client by his conduct
  3. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  4. Misconduct caused client to be monetarily sanction by trial court
  5. Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  6. Failed to keep client reasonably informed about status of legal matter
  7. Made a false or misleading statement of material fact to a trial court
  8. Misconduct involved multiple offenses
As one would suspect, this wasn’t Kenny’s First Bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He was previously sanctioned $5,000 by Judge Donald Stephens for intentionally failing to appear at a scheduled deposition. The fine was later reduced to $750 by Judge Stephens.

As a consequence of his misconduct the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Kenny by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 6-month suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Grievance Committee didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Kenny.

As we speak (ca. January 2014) Kenny practices at 610 Chalice Street in Durham, North Carolina.
