The state of Illinois presented Alan Jay Shefler with a law license in 1980.
The Disciplinary Commission found Alan guilty of the following misconduct.
Alan found it acceptable to knowingly violate the prohibition on paying referral fees to non-lawyers and for sharing legal fees with a non-lawyer.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Alan by gifting him with a complimentary 180-day suspension of his law license.
As we speak (ca. December 2013) Alan practices with Shefler & Berger Ltd. at 165 North Canal Street in Chicago, Illinois.
