Attorney Paul Murphy of Falls Church, VA; ethical dwarf

The state of Virginia presented Paul Andrew Murphy with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from the University of Richmond Law School.

The Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board found Paul guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Tidiane Toure hired Paul to assist him with an immigration matter. Toure paid Paul $1,100 in cash. After receipt of the cash, Paul told Toure he had to return to his office so that the necessary forms could be completed.

On the same day, Paul presented Toure with a written fee agreement that Toure then signed. The agreement purports to outline Paul’s fee structure for the representation; however, it was incomprehensible and impossible to understand.

On the next day, Toure returned to Paul’s office with his wife Yasmin. At that time, Paul told Toure and his wife that they would be required to pay him additional fees. When they objected to the additional fees, a dispute arose, with Paulie arguing he was entitled to additional fees, with Toure arguing that he was entitled to a refund of his fees.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Board punished Paul by gifting him with a complimentary admonition.

As we speak (ca. September 2013), Paul practices at 6231 Leesburg Pike in Falls Church, Virginia.
