Attorney Elihi Berman of Clearwater; ethical dwarf

The state of Florida provided Elihi Berman in 1974 after he graduated from the Harvard University Law School.

The Florida State Bar found Elihi guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Elihi represented his friends, a married couple, in the drafting of the wife’s last will and testament. When his male friend died, Elihi acted as both the successor personal representative and trustee under a testamentary trust.

In violation of statutory and customary fees for a personal representative, Elihi had the chutzpah to charge excessive fees.

In another matter, Elihi obtained an $18,000 loan from an elderly client, putting up his car for collateral; however, he did not repay the loan when promised nor did he relinquish the collateral.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Florida Supreme Court punished Elihi by gifting him with a complimentary 10-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. September 2013) Elihi practices at 2918 Mill Stream Court in Clearwater, Florida.
