Judge Judith Nicely of Akron, arrogant Whatchmakallit

From 1992 through 2002 when she retired, Judge Judi

th Nicely (aka, Arrogant Judy) sat on the Domestic Relations (Family) Court in Akron, Ohio (Summit County).

In early October 1991, the Summit County Sheriff ordered that all persons entering the Summit County Courthouse in Akron would have to travel through the metal detector. This order came about as a result of the event of Sept. 11.

Judge Judith Nicely took offense to the heightened security measures. In fact she wrote a letter to Sheriff Drew Alexander complaining about the policy, calling it arbitrary, inconvenient and restricting “freedom without due process.” (Akron Beacon Journal - ca. Oct. 6, 2001)

Judge Judith Nicely went on to say, “I think it’s unreasonable. It’s very time-consuming and I don’t think it’s necessary to treat us like we’re in an airport.”

Fellow Judge James E. Murphy didn’t share Judge Judith Nicely’s arrogant attitude. In fact Judge Murphy said, “To be fair, everybody should go though or nobody goes through. How do you know I won’t go crazy and take out a domestic relations judge?”

Administrative Judge John Adams said “A good argument can be made that judges, magistrates, attorneys, potential jurors, all should be treated alike and follow the same rules related to security.”

Arrogant Judy (Judge Judith Nicely) responded to the comments by Judges Murphy and Adams by saying, “I don’t care what the other judges are saying. What I care about is how this impacts on my freedom to move quickly.”

Obviously Arrogant Judy actually believes that her “bowel movement is without odor,” if ya know what I mean.

After retiring from the bench in 2002 (likely because she well knew she could not be reelected) Judge Judith Nicely immediately began to receive assignments as a visiting retired judge from Chief Justice Thomas Moyer.

If Judge Judith Nicely had run for reelection and been defeated, then under Ohio law she could never have been assigned as a visiting retired judge, a fact that she well knew before she resigned.
