Attorney Richard Lyle II of Georgetown, DE; ethical dwarf

The state of Delaware presented Richard B. Lyle II with a law license in 2006.

The Delaware Supreme Court found Richard guilty of the following misconduct.

While employed as an Assistant Public Defender, Richard represented Ron Roundtree who was charged with attempted murder first degree and other related offenses. Three other co-defendants were also charged.

A police department investigator interviewed a co-defendant and summarized his statement in a Client Information Form, which was then placed in the co-defendant’s file. Richard searched the co-defendant’s file to determine if he had made a statement to the investigator. When he found the statement, Richard copied it and showed it and/or discussed the contents of it with his client, Roundtree.

Richard knew it was improper to copy the statement and how it to his client because it was confidential information and in doing so he violated the rights of the co-defendant.

And lastly, Richard’s misconduct was prejudicial to the administration of justice.

As a consequence of his most recent misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Delaware Supreme Court punished Richard by gifting him with a complimentary 180-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. September 2013) Richard practices at 5 East Market Street in Georgetown, Delaware.
