Attorney Gove L. Allen of Mesa, AZ; ethical dwarf

The state of Arizona presented Gove L. Allen with a law license in 1959 after he graduated from the University of Arizona Law School.

The Arizona State Bar found Gove guilty of the following misconduct.

1. Failed to provide competent legal representation (moron)
2. Failed to consult with client to afford client to make informed decisions re: representation
3. Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
4. Failed to communicate with client
5. Failed to safeguard client property
6. Failed to take necessary steps to protect client’s interests after being discharged
7. Failed to expedite litigation
8. Failed to treat opposing counsel fairly
9. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice

In one matter, Gove filed a legal malpractice suit on behalf of his client against the client’s bankruptcy attorney, his law firm and employees of the firm. Gove alleged that the defendants committed malpractice when they failed to affirm a lease agreement within sixty days of the filing of the bankruptcy petition.

Subsequently, the defendants filed motions for summary judgment, all of which were granted and the lawsuit was dismissed. The trial court then awarded $30,000 in sanctions against Gove for his frivolous conduct.

Gove the Moron then appealed the $30,000 sanction; however, the Court of Appeals denied the appeal and sanctioned him another $5,000 for his abusive conduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders of Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished Michael by gifting him with a complimentary censure.
