Attorney Joseph Smith of Avon, OH; convicted felon

The state of Ohio presented Joseph Harold Smith with a law license in 1989 after he graduated from Cleveland State University Law School.

Disciplinary Counsel of the Ohio Supreme Court found George guilty of the following misconduct.

For a period of 20 years, Joe was employed by the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland in various positions of trust. Subsequently, a federal grand jury issued a 27-count indictment against Joe and a codefendant. Joey was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud, eight counts of mail fraud, eight counts of money laundering, one count of conspiracy to defraud the IR, four counts of making false tax returns, and one count corruptly endeavoring to obstruct and impede an IRS investigation.

A jury later found Joey guilty of six felonies. He was sentenced to one year in prison, ordered to perform 150 hours of community service, and ordered to pay restitution of $395,154 to the IRS in regards to his unreported income of $1.4 million.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court punished Joseph by gifting him with a complimentary 18-month suspension of his law license.

It  must be comforting to the folks living in greater Cleveland area to know that there is yet another convict practicing law compliments of the comedians sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court.

As we speak (ca. September 2013), Joseph practices as President of JHS Enterprises at 3378 Nagel Road in Avon, Ohio.
