Attorney Marc Bourget of Stockton, CA; ethical dwarf

The state of California provided Marc Jules Bourget with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from Humphrey’s Law School in Stockton, which is a 3^rd tier school dedicated to taking in losers that couldn’t accepted at mainstream schools like UCLA, UC Davis or Pepperdine

The California State Bar Court found Marc guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to return client file to client after being discharged
• Failed to deposit client funds in interest bearing account
• Failed to comply with court order
• Failed to provide competent representation (Dumbo)

In one matter, Marc represented a client on a contingency fee basis who believed she had purchased a defective car and wanted Marc to investigate a claim for fraud and prosecute the claim if warranted.

However, Marc never took any substantive action on the matter, never filed a lawsuit and did not return the client’s file.

In another matter, Marc represented the defendant in a civil matter involving a dispute over a residential property. After the property was sold, Marc received a check for $117,484.25 as the proceeds from the sale and deposited the money into a certificate of deposit he owned instead of a client trust account.

Marc later transferred the money into his trust account, but for three years did not put the funds into a special trust account that earns interest for the clients, as ordered by the court.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the California State Bar Court punished Marc by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. September 2013), Marc continues to practice in the Stockton, California area.
