Attorney Clifford Hardwick IV of McDonough, GA; ethical leprechaun

The state of Georgia presented Clifford E. Hardwick IV with a law license in 1976 after he graduated from Vanderbilt University Law School.

The Georgia State Bar found Clifford guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Clifford was hired to represent the clients’ minor son in regards to a federal lawsuit regarding copyright infringement for downloading music. The clients paid Clifford a $5,000 retainer, but he failed to provide the clients with a written agreement as required by the rules.

Although Clifford was hired in June he did not file the required Entry of Appearance with the trial court until November. Thereafter, Clifford failed to comply with a mandatory discovery request ordered by the court.

As a result of Clifford’s gross negligence, the trial court struck his client’s answer and entered a default judgment against his clients and in favor of the plaintiff in the amount of $18.000 plus $330 in costs.

Making matters worse, Clifford never informed his clients of the default judgment

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Georgia Supreme Court punished Clifford by gifting him with a complimentary 180-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. August 2013), Clifford practices at 2116 Jodeco Road West in McDonough, Georgia.
