Attorney William McCarty of Brattleboro, VT; ethical leprechaun

The state of Vermont presented William McCarty with a law license in 1967 after he graduated from Penn State University Law School.

The Vermont Bar Court found William guilty of the following misconduct.
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice law
  • Advised and/or assisted client he knew was fraudulent or criminal in nature
  • Knowingly made a false statement of material fact to a third person
  • Used means to embarrass or burden third party and/or used methods to obtain evidence that violated the rights of such a party
In one matter, William drafted and served upon a tenant documents that he knew had no legal basis and were improperly used to evict the tenant without following Vermont law.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Bar Court punished William by gifting him with a complimentary 90-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. Dec 2011) William practices with McCarty & Buehler PC at 76 High Street in Brattleboro, Vermont.
