Attorney Vivica Simmons of Houston; ethical gremlin
The state of Texas presented Vivica Simmons with a law license in 2000 after she graduated from South Texas Law College.
A panel of the District 4-D Grievance Committee found Vivica guilty of the following misconduct.
In one matter, Vivica was hired to represent a client in a family law case; however, she failed to file any documents on behalf of her client. She also failed to communicate with her client.
In another matter, Vivica was hired by a client to recover money on his behalf, but she failed to perform any action on the client’s behalf and further failed to maintain communication with the client.
Making matters worse, Vivica failed to respond to both grievances filed against her. Put simply, Vivica told the Grievance Committee, Up Yours!.
As a consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Vivica by gifting her with a complimentary fully probated 12-month suspension of her law license.
In truth, the comedians sitting on the Texas Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Vivica.
As we speak (ca. July 2013) Vivica continues to practice in the Houston area.
