Attorney Terry Sears of Houston; ethical misfit

The state of Texas presented Terry H. Sears with a law license in 1993 after he graduated from the University of Houston Law College.

The 55th Judicial District Court in Harris County (Houston) found Terry guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Terry was hired to represent a client in a civil case. Terry and the client entered into a business transaction regarding the conveyance of real estate owned by the client to Terry.

At the time the transaction was made, the client did not consent to the terms of the transaction in writing, which Terry knew was required in accordance with the Rules of Professional Conduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Terry by gifting him with a complimentary fully probated 1-year suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Texas Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Terry.

As we speak (ca. July 2013) Terry practices at 9700 Richmond Avenue in Houston, Texas.
