Attorney Michael Clepper of Riverside, CA; cheater, repeat offender
The state of California provided Michael Henry Clepper with a law license in 1961 after he graduated from the University of Calfiornia at Hastings Law School.
The California State Bar Court found Michael guilty of the following misconduct.
In one matter, an Alaska resident hired Michael to register a divorce judgment, paying him $1,500 in advance fees. For nearly six (6) years, Mike failed to respond to the client, who finally demanded the return of her fees and file. In turn, Mike sent her a bill for $1,334.
In another matter, Mike took $3,500 in advance fees to handle a divorce in 1998, then did little more than send a letter or two to the opposing party and conduct one telephone conference, a $793 value. The client then demanded her money back, but Mike did not repay the rest of the fees until he was under pressure by a State Bar investigation.
As one would suspect, this wasn’t Mike’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received two years probation for improperly withdrawing from employment, failing to perform legal services and failing to return unearned fees.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the California Bar Court punished Michael by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license.
As we speak (ca. August 2013), Michael practices at 4136 10th Street in Riverside, California.
