Judge Dion Ramos of Houston; ethical gnome, arrogant whatchamacallit
Unfortunately, Judge Dion Ramos was elected to the 55th District Family Court in Houston in 2008.
Shortly after ascending to the throne, Judge Dion Ramos had the chutzpah to spend over $3,300 in campaign funds to frame his election certificate as set forth below.
Now, compare Judge Dion Ramos’ arrogant behavior to that of Judge Mike Englehart of the 151st District Family Court in Bellaire (suburb of Houston) in spending under $300 to frame his election certificate as set forth below.
Do ya think that Judge Dion Ramos advised his contributors that he intended on spending $3,300 of their money to frame his election certificate?
Previously, Judge Dion Ramos was a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association. In 2009, Judge Dion Ramos spent nearly $350 in campaign funds as a sponsor for the Louisiana Bar Association even though he is no longer a member.
In addition, Judge Dion Ramos spent $235 in campaign funds as a sponsor for the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board. I personally fail to see how any of these contributions can be legitimate in that they have absolutely nothing to do with Judge Dion Ramos’ official judicial duties.
Judge Dion Ramos’ purchase of judicial robes
The Texas Ethics Commission has ruled in the past that a judge may use campaign contributions to purchase a judicial robe.
In the case of Judge Dion Ramos he billed his campaign to purchase two (2) robes as set forth below.
Now, why in the world would any newly elected judge need two (2) robes? I suppose if one was black and the other one was white or maybe even pink, then maybe that would be acceptable, right?
