Texas State Senator Troy Fraser of Abilene; scofflaw; moron, ethically deprived

Unfortunately, Senator Troy Fraser was elected to the Texas State Senate in 1996.

Section 253.035 of the Texas Election Code prohibits a candidate or officeholder from converting a campaign contribution to his/her personal use.

Apparently, Senator Troy Fraser’s lacks the mental capacity and/or intellectualism to comprehend the meaning of “converting campaign funds to personal use.” Put simply, Senator Troy Fraser would have to qualify as a monumental moron in claiming he was unaware of the Texas Campaign Laws over the past ten (10) years.

Illegal expenditures of campaign funds to attend constituent’s wedding
In late 2007 and/or early 2008, Senator Troy Fraser had the chutzpah to illegally bill his campaign for the costs of him and his wife Linda to attend the wedding of some unknown and undisclosed constituent.

Senator Troy Fraser unlawfully billed his campaign $2,575.90 to attend a constituent’s wedding as set forth below.
  • Inn of the Governors, Santa Fe, NM, 20080204, 203.40, Hotel expense - constituent wedding
  • La Casa Sena Santa Fe, NM, 20080201, 180.32, Meal expense - constituent wedding
  • La Quinta Inn #4024, Texarkana, TX, 20080622, 80.50, Hotel expense - constituent wedding
  • Southwest Airlines, 20080119,365.00 – Linda Fraser – constituent wedding
  • Southwest Airlines, 20080119,365.00 – Troy Fraser – constituent wedding
  • Budget Rent-a-Car Colorado Springs, 20070912,304.32 - Constituent wedding / Senators' retreat
  • Frontier Air, 20070909,279.59 – Linda Fraser – return from constituent wedding
  • ResortQuest, Breckenridge, CO, 20070822, 797.77, Constituent wedding
It would appear that this wedding was held in Breckenridge, Colorado. However, why would Senator Troy Fraser incur meal and hotel expenses in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Texarkana, Texas when Santa Fe is over 300 miles from Breckenridge and Texarkana is nearly 800 miles away?

It may well be that Senator Troy Fraser billed his campaign to attend two (2) separate weddings for constituents. Irregardless, the expenditures were of a personal nature and clearly illegal.

It cannot be disputed that these expenditures by Senator Troy Fraser are illegal. It would be laughable for Senator Troy Fraser to claim that attending a constituent’s wedding was specifically related to his official officeholder duties. If this were true, then why is Senator Troy Fraser the only Texas legislator who has so acted (ca. 2000-2009)?

In addition, it would be even more laughable for Senator Troy Fraser to claim that attending this wedding was a lawful and necessary campaign activity. Clearly it cannot be disputed that this was in fact a voluntary act on the part of Senator Troy Fraser. It certainly cannot be categorized as a mandatory appearance!

Given the fact that Senator Troy Fraser is the founder and former CEO of Pal-Ex. Inc. it must be assumed that he’s a multi-millionaire. Therefore, Senator Troy Fraser gives a new meaning to the term “cheapskate” in that he is unwilling to spend his own money to attend a friend’s wedding. What a loser!

And lastly, maybe an inquiring news reporter at the Abilene Reporter News and/or the Austin American-Statesman might inquire of Senator Troy Fraser who this “constituent” was? I think it would be quite revealing to know who it was and what the couple’s relationship was to Senator Troy Fraser.
