Justice Evelyn Stratton; scofflaw, moron, ethically indigent
In 1987, Justice Evelyn Stratton was unfortunately elected to sit on the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas in Columbus, Ohio.
Even more unfortunate was Justice Evelyn Stratton’s appointment by then-Governor George Voinovich to a seat on the Ohio Supreme Court in 1996. It cannot be disputed that this deplorable appointment came about due to the influence of Chief Justice Thomas Moyer who was and remains the most powerful politician in the State of Ohio (ca. 1987-2009). Put simply, Governor Voinovich only made judicial appointments in accordance with directives he received from Chief Justice Thomas Moyer.
Justice Evelyn Stratton the tax scofflaw
Upon her ascension to the throne on the Ohio Supreme Court in 1996, Justice Evelyn Stratton immediately secured a state paid car for use along with a state gas charge card.
Justice Evelyn Stratton primarily used the state’s car and fuel to commute from her home in Worthington (suburb of Columbus) to the Ohio Supreme Court in Columbus. Even though IRS Publication 15-B required Justice Evelyn Stratton to maintain contemporaneous logs differentiating personal vs. official use of the state car, she never did so. This fact was proven when the Watchdawg made a public record’s request to the Ohio Supreme Court for copies of said logs and was advised no such records existed.
A review of Justice Evelyn Stratton’s annual W-2s also proved that she did not declare income she realized from the personal use of the state’s car and fuel. Put simply, Justice Evelyn Stratton failed to report and pay required income tax to the IRS, State of Ohio and the city of Columbus from 1996 through at least 2005.
In 2005, Chief Justice Thomas Moyer decided it was time to ditch the luxury state cars he provided to himself and the other justices as a result of the abuses uncovered and reported by the Watchdawg.
Chief Justice Thomas Moyer then lobbied the state legislature to provide him, Justice Evelyn Stratton and the other justices with a $500 a month vehicle allowance. However, Justice Evelyn Stratton failed to report the income she received from this $6,000 yearly stipend in regards to personal use involving commuting to the Ohio Supreme Court.
To be fair to Justice Evelyn Stratton, she was merely following in the footsteps of her mentor Chief Justice Thomas Moyer in thumbing her nose at IRS rules and thereby avoiding paying taxes to the IRS, State of Ohio and the city of Columbus.
Justice Evelyn Stratton’s husband John the Pervert
In early 2004, Justice Evelyn Stratton’s husband John Lundberg, executive director of the state board that regulated auto body shops, was caught using a state computer on state time to download porn.
An analysis of Mr. Lundberg’s state computer revealed he received 180 pornographic-related messages and adds over a 40-day-period of time. Mr. Lundberg admitted to subscribing to other porno Web sites at his own expense and downloading hundreds of porno images and videos over the past several years. (Toledo Blade – April 9, 2004)
Unbelievably, Justice Evelyn Stratton denied any knowledge that her husband was accessing hundreds of porn sites over several years despite the fact they lived in the same house.
How is it possible to live in the same house with a certified pervert who is consistently viewing porn on his home computer? You’d have to be a certified moron to be ignorant of this conduct, right?
Isn’t it comforting to know that Ohioans are blessed with having a certified tax scofflaw sitting on the highest court in the state?
