Attorney Margil Sanchez of Rio Grande City, TX; ethical misfit

The state of Texas presented Margil Garza Sanchez with a law license in 1976 after he graduated from George Washington University Law College.

The 381st Judicial District Court of Starr County found Margil guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Failed to provide client with required written fee agreement
  2. Failed to keep client informed about status of legal matter
  3. Failed to take steps to protect client’s interest after being fired
  4. Failed to refund unearned advance fee
  5. Failed to return client files to client after being fired
Margil found it acceptable to engage in the unauthorized practice of law (UPL) while his license was suspended.

Margil is lucky, because if he practiced law while his license was suspended in California he could have been charged with a felony.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Commission punished Margil by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. June 2013), Margil continues to practice in the Rio Grande City, Texas area.
