Attorney Drew Filyk of Regina, SK; ethical goblin The Law Society of Saskatchewan presented Drew Filyk with a law license in 1993 after he graduated from the University of Manitoba Law School.
The Law Society of Saskatchewan found Kim Alan Stinson guilty of the following misconduct
In one matter, Drew was hired to represent a client in regards to her divorce case. Over an thirteen (13) month period of time, Drew’s time sheets prove he did nothing to prosecute his client’s claims.
In another matter, Drew represented a client in marital property disputes with the client’s wife. Over a four (4) month period of time, the wife’s attorney sent Drew nine (9) letters regarding the case, all of which he totally ignored.
In a third matter, Drew was hired by a client with respect to her separation from her husband, with custody being the most contested issue. During a court hearing, the judge directed both counsel to reach agreement on an aspect of custody, and for Drew to draft an Order.
Over the next four (4) months, the husband’s lawyer sent Drew five (5) letters and called him at least six (6) times. However, Drew did not respond to the letters or calls.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Law Society of Saskatchewan punished Kim by gifting him with a complimentary $1,500 fine.
