Attorney William Brown of La Ronge, SK; ethical misfit

The Law Society of Saskatchewan presented William Zion Brown with a law license in 1957 after she graduated from the University of Saskatchewan Law School.

The Law Society of Saskatchewan found William guilty of the following misconduct
  1. Engaged in conduct unbecoming a lawyer (What’s new!)
  2. Breached his duties to his clients
  3. Failed to provide competent legal services (moron)
  4. Misled (lied) to his clients
In one matter, William breached his duty to his client when he advised them he would only disburse mortgage funds held by him upon the satisfaction of certain conditions, which conditions he knowingly failed to satisfy.

In another matter, William’s instructions from a banking institution included the requirement that he provide a Final Solicitor’s (Attorney’s) Report; however, William never did so. Approximately three (3) years later, William searched title to the property and found it to be registered to a new owner. William the Dufus then erroneously concluded that the banking institution would no longer require his final report despite specific instructions from the bank requiring him to so act.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Law Society of Saskatchewan punished William by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. May 2013), William practices with The Law Office of William Z. Brown at 1656 Lakeshore Avenue in La Ronge, Saskatchewan.
