Attorney Robert Berchan of Valencia, CA; ethical misfit

The state of California provided Robert Berchan with a law license in 1985 after he graduated from Gonzaga University Law College in Spokane, Washington.

The State Bar Court found Robert guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Robert represented the husband in a divorce case. The couple’s son had received in-patient medical care for which the wife paid, believing she would be reimbursed by the insurer. Eventually she was paid $6,502 but because the insurance policy was in her husband’s name, a check was sent to him. As a result, Robert did not distribute the funds but told the wife’s attorney he would not oppose a court order to pay out the money.

The court eventually ordered Robert to give the $6,052 to the wife and to pay her attorney fees of $1,250.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the supporters for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Bar Court punished Robert by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. April 2013) Robert practices at 23929 Valencia Blvd in Valencia, California, which is in the Los Angeles area.
