Attorney Ashley Cannon of Winston-Salem; congenital liar

The state of North Carolina presented Ashley E. Cannon with a law license in 2001.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar charged Carole with the following misconduct

For a period of about two years, Ashley was involved romantically with J.F. Subsequently, Ashley filed a complaint and motion for domestic violence protective order against J.F. in the Mecklenburg County (Charlotte) District Court.

The following claims were contained in Ashley’s request for a protective order:
  1. “J.F. began calling my cell phone leaving messages and threats to come to my home”
  2. “JF called me at least 20 times and texted me at least 30 times”
  3. “JF came to my home, banging at my door and when I didn’t answer he went to the neighbor’s home and began banging on her door”
  4. “JF was screaming my name and I was hiding in the bathroom”
  5. “I tried to leave before he got there, he had warned me he was coming but I did not get out fast enough
  6. “JF won’t leave me along”
  7. “JF was physically abusive and hit me in the face with his fist”
  8. “I am afraid, I need protection from him”
  9. “I believe there is danger of serious and immediate injury to me or my children”
Many of the allegations in Ashley’s complaint were false and/or misleading, At a subsequent hearing on her complaint, Ashley provided sworn testimony consistent with the false and misleading statements contained in her complaint. At the conclusion of the hearing, the trial judge found Ashley’s testimony completely non-credible and summarily dismissed her complaint.

Ashley’s sham complaint caused the court to waste four days in conduct hearings. Ashley should be made to reimburse the taxpayers for the cost of this frivolous action.

All that’s left now is for the North Carolina Supreme Court to determine the punishment that Ashley will receive for her egregious misconduct

As we speak (ca. March 2013) Ashley continues to practice in the Winston-Salem, North Carolina area.
