Attorney Carole Burley of Oriental, NC; ethical misfit

The state of North Carolina presented Carole P. Burley with a law license in 1999 after she graduated from Syracuse University Law School.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar charged Carole with the following misconduct.
  • Falsely modified fee application ending date
  • Made false statements of a material fact to a tribunal or failed to correct false statements of material fact previously made to a tribunal
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • False modifications of fee application had the potential to cause significant harm to the public’s perception of the legal profession
  • Conduct had a negative impact on the administration of justice
  • Offenses were of a serious nature

As a consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the North Carolina State Bar punished Carole by gifting her with a complimentary stayed 1-year suspension of her law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the State Bar didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Carole.

As we speak (ca. February 2016), Carole practices at 8045-6 Treasure Drive in Oriental, North Carolina
