Attorney James Cirillo, Jr. of Branford, CT; repeat offender

The state of Connecticut provided James F. Cirillo, Jr. with a law license in 1973.

The Statewide Grievance Committee found James guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, James represented a client in her post-judgment dissolution of her marriage. At the time the client’s ex-husband was in arrearage regarding payment of certain medical bills on behalf of his minor children. The client advised James she wanted to modify the divorce judgment due to her husband’s present financial circumstances. At that time, the client paid James $2,500 but insisted she wanted the court to order her husband to pay the fees, which James agreed too.

At a subsequent contempt hearing, the husband paid the outstanding medical bills. James did not demand any attorney’s fees be paid by the husband. The client’s motion to modify wasn’t heard for several months. Two days before the modification hearing, the husband presented the client and James with a written agreement that included his payment of attorneys’ fees owing to James. The agreement was signed and notarized by the client’s husband.

At the hearing, James failed to submit the agreement wherein the husband agreed to pay James’ attorney fees. Rather, James the Buffoon redrafted the agreement and deleted the provision wherein the husband agreed to pay his attorney fees. As a result of James’ buffoonery, the husband never paid his attorney fees, thereby leaving it for the wife to pay.

As one would suspect, this wasn’t James’ 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received two (2) separate complimentary reprimands for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Statewide Grievance Committee punished James by gifting him with his third (3rd) complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. May 2013) James practices at 128 Chestnut Street in Branford, Connecticut.
