Attorney Willie Davis of Boston; ethical elf

The state of Massachusetts presented Willie J. Davis with a law license in 1963.

The Board of Bar Overseers found Willie guilty of the following misconduct.

1. Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
2. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
3. Knowingly failed to comply with court orders (Up Yours, said Willie!)
4. Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on his ability to practice law

In one matter, Willie represented a client in a criminal case involving a bar fight that led to the death of the other person. Subsequently, the criminal trial ended in a mistrial after which the client entered an Alford plea to manslaughter in exchange for a term of probation.

Willie then agreed to represent the client in defending a civil wrongful death action. However, Willie failed to appear at the court scheduled trial, thereby forcing his client to represent himself. As a consequence of Willie’s gross negligence in failing to appear at the trial to defend his client, the jury awarded a $600,000 judgment against his client.

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Willie’s 1^st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received a complimentary admonition for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Board of Overseers punished Willie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. February 2013) Willie practices with Davis Robinson & Molloy at One Faneuil Hall Marketplace in Boston, Massachusetts.
