Attorney Richard Dalton of Marston Hills, MA; ethical elf

The Massachusetts Supreme Court presented Richard A. Dalton with a law license in 1978.

The Board of Bar Overseers found Richard guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Commingled client funds with personal funds
  2. Failed to keep individual client ledgers for each client
  3. Failed to perform three-way reconciliation of escrow account every sixty days
In one matter, Richard represented a client in conncection with her post-divorce matter in the Barnstable Probate and Family Court. Subsequently, Richard agreed to act as escrow agent when the client and her ex-husband sold a property they owned in Maine. Shortly after the sale, Richard deposited $171,982 from the sale into his escrow account. After making authorized disbursements of said funds, Richard was left with $4,680 from the real estate proceeds, which he then misused to pay personal or business expenses.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Commission punished Richard by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. March 2013) Richard practices in the Marston Hills, Massachusetts area.
