Attorney Gerald Sugarman of Arroyo Grande, CA; convicted felon

 
The state of California provided Gerald I. Sugarman with a law license in 1978 after he graduated from Glendale University Law School in Glendale, California, a 4th tier school dedicated to serving losers that couldn’t get accepted to mainstream schools like USC, UC Davis, UCLA or Stanford.
 
The California Bar Court found Gerald guilty of misconduct on at least two occasions as set forth below.
 
Gerald’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree
 
Gerald is both a doctor and a lawyer. He was convicted in federal court of aiding and abetting bankruptcy fraud and money laundering.
 
Gerald filed for bankruptcy after his ex-wife won a $1.2 million judgment against him in their divorce case. He owned and operated a medical group in Glendale, which was considered to be an asset of the bankruptcy sale.
 
Gerald and his sister, who was his office manager, attempted to conceal more than $200,000 in medical group revenues from the bankruptcy trustee. They were both charged with 13 counts in federal court. Subsequently, Gerald pleaded guilty to 2 counts and was sentenced to two-years in prison and 18 months of supervised release. He was ordered to pay his ex-wife $577,655.
 
As a consequence of his misconduct, the supporters for Attorney Misfits sitting on the California Bar Court punished Gerald by gifting him with a complimentary 42-month suspension of his law license.
 
Gerald’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree
 
Gerald stipulated (admitted) that in two matters he failed to disclose to his clients or the State Bar that he employed a disciplined attorney as a paralegal and allowed him to work on his clients’ cases.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the California Bar Court punished Gerald by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 2-years suspension of his law license.
 
As we speak (ca. February 2013) Gerald practices at 1136 Grand Avenue in Arroyo Grande, California, which is 16 miles south of San Luis Obispo.
 
It must be comforting to the folks living in San Luis Obispo to know that there is yet another convicted pervert practicing law in their area compliments of the comedians sitting on the California Bar Court.
