Attorney Eric Parrish of Des Moines; greedy loser

The state of Iowa presented Eric Kenyatta Parrish with a law license in 1997 after he graduated from the University of Iowa Law School.

The Iowa Supreme Court Attorney Disciplinary Board found Eric guilty of the following misconduct
  1. Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  2. Failed to communicate with clients
  3. Failed to provide accounting of services to client when requested
  4. Failed to attend court scheduled hearing on client’s behalf
  5. Failed to promptly return unearned fees
In one matter, a client and her husband hired Eric’s firm to represent the husband in a criminal matter and to represent both of them in property forfeiture proceedings. Subsequently, Eric entered his appearance on behalf of the clients on the forfeiture case in Hardin County, Iowa. The client paid and advanced fee of $15,000 for representation on both matters.

About a month later, the clients became dissatisfied with Eric’s representation and fired him and his firm. One of the reasons was due to Eric’s failure to appear at a court scheduled hearing in the forfeiture case.

A couple of months later, the clients wrote to Eric and his firm and requested a refund of fees and an itemization. When Eric failed to respond, the clients filed a compliant with the Disciplinary Board.

Eric subsequently provided the Disciplinary Board with an itemization showing fees and expenses totaling $9,526.04, leaving a balance of unearned fees of $5,473.96. The response to the Disciplinary Board did not include a copy of any cover letter to the clients or any other documentation proving that the itemizations were ever sent to the clients.
It took over one year before Eric finally refunded the $5,473.96 in unearned fees to his clients.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court Attorney Disciplinary Board punished Eric by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. January 2013), Eric practices with Parrish, Kruidenier, Moss, Dunn & Montgomery at 2910 Grand Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa.

On his self-serving website at www.parrishlaw.com, Eric makes no mention of the misconduct aforementioned. Apparently he decided to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients in order to not limit his future victim pool.
