Attorney R. Anthony Wall, Jr. of Torrington, CT; ethical elf

The state of Connecticut provided R. Anthony Wall, Jr. with a law license in 1974.

The Statewide Grievance Committee found R. Anthony guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Amy Becker, formerly known as Amy Johnson, hired R. Anthony her in regards to injuries she sustained from an auto accident.

Four months later, R. Anthony sent the client a letter that stated in part: “Your legal fee for services rendered to date will either be negotiated or submitted to fee dispute arbitration pursuant to the Disciplinary Rules. We agree to escrow the legal fee pending a resolution of the division of the same.”

The client eventually sent R. Anthony several letters inquiring about the status of her personal injury case, which he responded to by saying that the case was on the jury trial list in Hartford Superior Court. In another follow-up letter to the client, R. Anthony told her that an arbitration hearing had been held on the matter several months earlier, but he failed to indicate whether the matter was resolved, or whether any fee had been generated or was being held in escrow by R. Anthony.

Subsequently, the client learned that a caim against the responsible drive was arbitrated with an award of $115,000. R. Anthony received a check for the $115,000 and a fee of $38,333.33. However, he never placed the settlement funds in an escrow account and he never advised the client that her personal injury case had been resolved.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Statewide Grievance Committee punished R. Anthony by gifting him with another complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. January 2013) R. Anthony practices with the Law Offices of R. Anthony Wall, Jr. at 8 Church Street in Torrington, Connecticut.
