Attorney Louis Vera of San Antonio; ethical dwarf

The state of Texas presented Louis Roberto Vera with a law license in 1992 after he graduated from Western New England Law School.

The 288th District Court of Bexar County found Louis guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Failed to provide competent representation (idiot)
  2. Failed to communicate with client
  3. Failed to advise client of status of legal matter
  4. Failed to provide client with sufficient information to allow client to make informed decision re: representation
  5. Failed to return client file to client after he was fired
  6. Failed to advise client that statute of limitations had expired when he was fired
In one matter, Louis was hired by a client to pursue a civil action on the client’s behalf after the client had discharged his prior attorney. At the time, the prior attorney specifically advised Louis that the statute of limitations to file a lawsuit would expire in three months.

Despite receiving a specific warning from the prior attorney, Louis allowed the statute of limitations to expire without ever filing a lawsuit on his client’s behalf.

While Louis represented the client, the client made numerous calls to Louis seeking to find out the status of his case; however, Louis failed to respond to any of the calls. As a result of Louis’ gross negligence and incompetence, the client forever lost his right to pursue his lawful claims in a court of law.

In another matter, Louis was hired to represent a client in a divorce case. Louis was grossly negligent in failing to timely file a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the client’s spouse, and then failing to serve the TRO on the spouse after the trial issued it.

Louis also failed to secure a $30,000 settlement between his client and her former husband by failing to obtain a lien on real estate owned by the former husband.

As a consequence of her misconduct the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Louis by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. January 2013) Louis practices at 111 Soledad Street in San Antonio, Texas.
