Attorney Gina Berry of Ventura, CA; ethical elf

The state of California provided Gina Berry with a law license in 1979 after she graduated from the University of San Francisco Law School.

The California Bar Court found Gina guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Misconduct involved multiple acts of wrongdoing
  2. Failed to communicate with client
  3. Failed to provide competent representation (moron)
In one case, Gina was hired to represent a client at his parole revocation hearing. The hearing was held and the client’s parole was revoked with a date set for a suitability hearing. Gina accepted additional fees to work on a writ of habeas corpus for her client, but she failed to file it. Gina later promised to visit the client on a certain date, but she failed to call or show up.

The client’s wife wrote to Gina and requested a status update on her husband’s case, but she never received a response. Gina then told the client’s wife she was moving her office to Simi Valley, but asked her to continue sending correspondence to her Oxnard address. She told the wife not to contact her at her new firm since she would be practicing in a different area of the law.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the supporters for Attorney Misfits sitting on the California Bar Court punished Gina by gifting her with a complimentary 90-days suspension of her law license.

As we speak (ca. January 2013) Gina practices at 1794 South Victoria in Ventura, California.
