Attorney R. Elliott Toll of Doylestown, PA; convicted thief
The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) found Toll guilty of the following misconduct.
Toll the Convicted Felon
In one matter, Toll pleaded guilty one count of mail fraud, one count of aiding and abetting, and one count of obstruction of justice. The criminal conviction arose out of a scheme whereby Toll’s friend, Dr. Mark Jaffe, submitted inflated (fabricated) medical bills regarding Toll’s personal injury cases.
Toll then submitted the fabricated medical bills to insurance companies. Toll also instructed Dr. Jaffe to destroy certain records relevant to a federal grand jury subpoena.
Subsequently, Toll was sentenced to five years in prison to be followed by five years probation along with a $50,000 fine and restitution of $150,000.
In another matter, Toll mislead a client, Irene Uhrig, be falsely telling her that she had won her arbitration matter and the other side appealed, when in fact she lost the case and he then appealed. Toll continued to mislead (lie) to his client through the appeal process and until the client fired him.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court punished Toll by disbarring him. Two years later, the comedians sitting on the Supreme Court reinstated Toll the Convicts law license.
As we speak (ca. December 2012) Toll practices with the Law Offices of Steven H. Kitty LLC at 44 East Court Street in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
