The state of Delaware presented Stephen P. Doughty with a law license in 1974. Also licensed to practice in New Jersey.
The Delaware Supreme court found Stephen guilty of the following misconduct.
A random compliance audit was conducted by the Lawyers Fund for Client Protection and several deficiencies were reported to Disciplinary Counsel. The audit showed that Stephen failed to file or pay any corporate or gross receipts taxes for at least seven (7) years. The audit also showed that Stephen failed to reconcile client escrow balances as require and ailed to take reasonable steps to promptly disburse funds to clients
In addition, Stephen misrepresented (lied) about his firm’s tax filing obligations to the Supreme Court in his Certificates of Compliance over a six (6) period of time.
As a consequence of his misconduct, apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Delaware Supreme Court punished Stephen by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
As we speak (ca. December 2012) Stephen practices with Lyons Doughty & Veldhuis at Ashley Place in Wilmington, Delaware.
