The state of Connecticut provided David M. Wallman with a law license in 1970.
The Statewide Grievance Committee found David guilty of the following misconduct
David was hired to represent a client in regards to injuries she sustained in a slip and fall accident. When the client became frustrated at David’s failure to return numerous phone calls regarding the status of her legal case.
The client then went to David’s office without an appointment and was able to see him. David told her that he was working on her case and that he would communicate with her regarding his progress. The client then enlisted the help of her son who lived in Texas. In response to a letter from the son, David sent the son a letter stating that he had not yet filed a lawsuit on his mother’s case. However, in his letter David failed to advise the son that the reason he didn’t file the lawsuit was because he allowed the statute of limitations to expire.
The client then fired David, hired a new attorney and filed a legal malpractice claim. Subsequently, David agreed to pay the client $175,000 to settle the case and to make an initial $25,000 payment within 60-days of the settlement. On two occasions, David issued settlement checks to his client that were returned due to insufficient funds (rubber).
Because Attorney Misfits in Connecticut are held to a much lower standard then everyone else, David was never criminally charged for writing bad checks.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Statewide Grievance Committee punished David by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
As we speak (ca. December 2012) David practices at 184 Atlantic Street in Stamford, Connecticut.
