Attorney Benjamin Harris of Milwaukee; ethical goblin

The state of Wisconsin presented Benjamin James Harris with a law license in 1996 after he graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

The Office of Lawyer Registration (OLR) found Benjamin guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  2. Failed to notify client of status of pending legal matter
  3. Failed to attend court noticed hearings on client’s behalf
  4. Failed to communicate with client
In one matter, Benjamin was hired by a woman to represent her in defending an action seeking specific performance of a real estate contract and in the subsequent appeal. Benjamin failed to attend motion hearings at the trial and appellate courts. Benjamin also failed to inform his client of separate orders dismissing her appeal and granting a defense motion to enforce a judgment against her.

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Benjamin’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received a complimentary private reprimand and a public reprimand for engaging in a variety of misconduct, including his failure to act with due diligence and to communicate with his clients.

As a consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme
Court punished Benjamin by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. December 2012) Benjamin practices with the Harris Law Offices SC at 705 East Silver Spring Drive in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
