Attorney Steven Zuboff of Manchester, CT; ethical misfit

The state of Connecticut provided Steven D. Zuboff with a law license in 1984.

The Statewide Grievance Committee found Steven guilty of the following misconduct

Failed to cooperate with grievance committee (Up Yours, said Steven!)

Steven was involved in a matter involving a home located in Manchester, Connecticut. A mortgage was taken against the property for $114,000. The mortgagees on the note were Leslie S. Wilson and the person that filed the ethics complaint against Steven. The lender was Assurance Mortgage Corp. of America. Assurance subsequently assigned the notes to Fleet Mortgage Corp.

The note was later defaulted on and, Fleet began foreclosure proceedings against Leslie Wilson and the complainant. The complainant filed her appearance in the foreclosure action. The court ordered a foreclosure by sale on the property. Subsequently, the complainant filed for bankruptcy protection. The bankruptcy petition was dismissed, and the trial court set a new sale date for the property.

Robert Hannafin was the successful bidder on the property. Steven represented Mr. Hannafin. The court ordered the complainant to vacate the premises and approved the sale of the property to Mr. Hannafin. Steven then obtained an execution for ejectment to have the complainant removed from the property.

In her ethics complaint, the complainant alleged that Steven committed fraud when he filed his appearance on behalf Mr. Hannifin since Mr. Hannafin was not a party to the foreclosure action. The complainant further claimed that Leslie Wilson “stole her identity” and fraudulent obtained a loan against the complainant’s property.

A default judgment was interfered against Steven for his failure to respond to the complainant’s grievance. In truth, Steven told the Grievance Committee, “Up Yours!.”

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Statewide Grievance Committee punished Steven by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. November 2012) Steven practices with the Zuboff Law Offices at 344 Center Street in Manchester, Connecticut.
