Judge Michael Peters of Houston; scofflaw; moron, ethical gremlin
In addition to being a scofflaw, moron, ethical gnome, intellectually deprived, Judge Michael Peters is a Judge Roy Bean Wannabee.
Unfortunately, Judge Michael Peters continues to sit on the Criminal County Court at Law No. 2 (criminal seems apropos) in Houston, Texas (ca. September 2009).
On June 7, 2004, Judge Michael Peters illegally sentenced a woman convicted of severely neglecting two Houston Appeal Court Judges, I’m sorry I mean two horses to spend 30 days in jail and to have a “diet restricted to bread and water for the first three (3) days.
On June 8, 2004, Judge Michael Peters was advised by county officials in Houston that his “bread and water” sentence was in direct conflict with Texas Law. Keeping true to his reputation as a certified moron and Judge Roy Bean Wannabee, Judge Michael Peters’ response was analogous to what Rhett Butler told Scarlett O’Hara in Gone with the Wind, “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn.”
On or about June 8, 2004, Judge Michael Peters illegally sentenced a man convicted of illegally dumping chromium waste from his metal-plating business to drink “from a non-toxic volume of water containing pollutants dumped into dumpsters.”
The illegal order by Judge Michael Peters that the defendant be made to consume a “toxic sludge cocktail” was not carried out by Houston officials who had determined that drinking any amount of chromium could serious threaten the health of the defendant.
Of course Judge Michael Peters didn’t much give a damn about comporting his conduct with the oath of office he took. In fact, Judge Michael Peters has dedicated his unremarkable judicial career to the total “avoidance of propriety” (for you morons, means ethics). And by Golly Gee Whiz, it cannot be disputed that Judge Michael Peters has succeeded in proving that he is an ethical and intellectual leper-con, right?
Despite warnings from numerous public officials in Houston that his conduct in ordering a “bread and water” and/or “toxic sludge diet” for these defendants was contrary to Texas law, Judge Michael Peters refused to withdraw his illegal orders. In truth, Judge Michael Peters told Houston officials exactly what the bandito in the Sierra Madre movie did and that is, “Laws, I don’t obey no stinkin laws.”
Judicial Commission’s Punishment of Judge Michael Peters
After feigning indignation and contempt for Judge Michael Peters’ egregious misconduct, the enablers and apologists on the Commission gifted him by presenting him with a “complimentary” public admonition.”
