Williams’s misconduct involved his conversion (theft) of client funds from his trust account. The conversion

took place over a period of one year and totaled approximately $18,000.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished John by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

  1. Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  2. Failed to communicate with clients
  3. Failed to take necessary steps to protect client’s interest after being discharged
  4. Failed to expedite litigation on client’s behalf
  5. Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
In one matter, Patrick failed to file a court-ordered pretrial statement. He also failed to timely respond to discovery requests. Based on Patrick’s conduct, defense counsel filed a motion to compel and for sanctions. The court granted the defense motion and awarded taxable costs against Patrick’s clients in the amount of $6,445.45.

In another matter, Patrick was hired by a client in a marriage dissolution proceeding. The client paid Patrick $500 for time spent meeting with him and $121 for the cots to file an answer with the court. The client’s repeated calls and faxes to Patrick went unanswered. Patrick never filed the answer he was to file on behalf of his client. Because no answer was filed and the client did not appear at a court scheduled hearing, the court entered a default against the client, which led to the client’s wife obtaining title to property in New Mexico, including government built missile silos. It took Patrick nearly one year before he refunded the $121 the client paid him for the fee to file his answer to the divorce action.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Arizona Supreme Court punished John by gifting him with another complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. December 2012) William practices at 3115 South Price Road in Chandler, Arizona.
